From Ancient Greek {{grc|Ἀσῐ́ᾱ}}, from Template:Gmy {{gmy|𐀀𐀯𐀹𐀊||Aššuwan}}, adjective potentially from Template:Hit {{hit|𒀸𒋗𒉿||northwest Anatolia}} or Template:Akk {{akk|𒀀𒋗||to go out, to rise}}, a reference to the rising sun, hence “land of the sunrise.”
